“Tell God all that is in your heart as one unloads ones heart, its pleasures and its pains, to a dear friend. Tell him your troubles that he may comfort you; tell him your joys that he may sober them; tell him your longings that he may purify them; tell him your dislikes that he may help you overcome them; talk to himof your temptations that he may shield you from them; show him the wounds of your heart that he may heal them; lay bare your indifference to good, your depraved tastes for evil; tell him how vanity tempts you to be insincere, how pride disguises you to yourself and others. Tell him- He’s your friend.”-FRENCH ARCH BISHOP AND THEOLOGIAN, FRANÇOIS FÉNELON.
The theologians point therefore is; If you tell everything to God like this, like a best friend does to a best friend, you’d never run out of things to say to God and you will always hear God constantly having things to say to you. Best friends say everything to each other without having to filter or decide which one should be told and not to be told reason why they always have something to say. Make God your bestfriend. You are his bestfriend. See Hannah’s example in 1 Samuel 1.
