LETS DIVE IN. Shall we?
Every blogger definitely knows that you need internet access, a computer or tablet, a cup of coffee (or whatever gives you the coffee feeling) and a serene environment to blog. But I bet not every blogger knows how important it is to have some level (no matter how tiny) of tech knowledge to be a successful blogger even though you are not compelled to have this knowledge because regardless, you will turn out fine.
Here’s why you need tech knowledge, how you can get it and how you can use it can boost your blogging career. Thanks to Smart Web Nigeria for all the tech tips I’ve been getting lately, I hope you pick a few tips too.
Basic Knowledge of HTML:
HTML (Hypertex Mark-up Language) is a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, colour, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web (www) pages. All of the websites you see on the internet including your blog site is running because it was built with the help of HTML. Though most bloggers use CMS Content Management Sites like WordPress, Joomla or E Blogger which provides the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) feature for ease of management, It is still recommended that you possess some level of knowledge, at least enough to know how to use images as interlinks, converting a text to a hyperlink, adding alt tags, including headlines in h1 or h2 tags etc. Although WordPress is a powerful platform which lets you create content without any coding skills. This will help you when you get into trouble.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) is the language used in styling web pages. When you see a website with beautiful outlook, and some pretty fancy effects, it is definitely CSS. You need to have some level of knowledge on html and CSS to style your website according to your taste or your blogging standards. Knowing CSS will help you to be able to quickly edit your blog theme, make minor changes like colors, padding and a few others to improve your blog. Particularly for WordPress themes, knowing CSS and PHP will help you to keep improving your blog day after day.
A combination of these three for a blogger is like having the double edged sword talked about in the bible. Yup! That good..

If you are a WordPress blogger, knowing PHP will be like having a magic wand. You can quickly fix many issues related to WordPress, and you can code your own plugin or theme. PHP is a server-side scripting language that is very helpful to your web development and to the enhancement of the capabilities of your WordPress blog. It is not entirely necessary, but if you do happen to have some level of interest in it, you should learn it because PHP can certainly be helpful to your blogging career.
